About Chris Coletti
Chris Coletti is a trumpeter, arranger, conductor, and educator celebrated for his versatility as a soloist, orchestral and chamber musician, and baroque trumpet player. He has performed with the Metropolitan Opera Brass, New York Philharmonic Brass, as Guest Principal Trumpet with the St. Louis Symphony and The Knights NYC, and alongside artists including Chris Thile, Jon Batiste, Quincy Jones, Cécile McLorin Salvant, and Kanye West.
Performer
Chris joined the Canadian Brass at age 24 and toured the world with the group for ten years (2009–2019). His trumpet playing and arrangements can be heard on more than two dozen albums, including eleven full-length Canadian Brass recordings and countless singles and videos.
He is currently Principal Trumpet of ROCO Houston and the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra, Acting Principal Trumpet of the Cayuga Chamber Orchestra in Ithaca, NY, and a regular performer and recording artist with The Knights NYC.
Educator
Chris is Associate Professor of Trumpet at Ithaca College, where he also directs the Contemporary Ensemble. His teaching blends classic fundamentals with current research on efficiency, biomechanics, and musicianship—emphasizing an effortless approach, resonant tone, and a supportive studio environment.
His students have gone on to attend The Juilliard School, New England Conservatory, and the Tanglewood Music Center, and have earned positions in professional orchestras, military bands, and higher education.
Creator & Arranger
Beyond performing and teaching, Chris is a prolific arranger and creator, offering a wide-ranging catalog of works for brass quintet, mixed ensembles, duets, and original pedagogical material. His music has been performed in more than 70 countries and is heard in studios, concert halls, and online worldwide.
